About

Built by people who remember being stuck at the kitchen table with nobody to ask.

NYGTLYF exists because of a specific, ordinary experience: sitting in front of a problem at night, understanding the first two lines, losing the third, and having no way to find out what the third line meant until a class three days later that had already moved on.

What we are, in one line

A direct to student learning platform, operated by Nygtlyf Private Limited, sold to nobody but the person studying.

The gap that nobody was around to close

Almost everyone who has studied for an exam in India has a version of the same evening. It is late, there is one step in one problem that does not follow, and the only available options are to guess, to copy, or to leave it. All three of those end the same way: the notebook looks finished and the concept is not.

What makes it worse is that the step is usually small. Not the whole chapter, not the subject, one move. Splitting the middle term when the leading coefficient is not one. Resolving a vector into components with the right signs. Two minutes of explanation would settle it, and there is nowhere to get two minutes of explanation at 21:40.

Coaching classes are a real answer to a different problem. They provide pace, structure and accountability for a group. What a class structurally cannot do is notice that one student's difficulty with quadratics is actually a factorising problem from two years ago, or answer the same question a fourth time without the student paying a social cost for asking.

So the gaps accumulate quietly. They are not visible in a test score, which reports the symptom rather than the cause. They surface two terms later, at which point the fix costs four times as much and the student has usually concluded that the subject is not for them.

NYGTLYF is an attempt at the narrow thing that closes that loop: something that answers the doubt in the minute it exists, works out which concept underneath it actually broke, generates practice aimed at that concept rather than the chapter it sits in, and refuses to move on until the evidence says the concept holds.

It is deliberately not a marketplace, not a course library, and not a tool an institute buys on a student's behalf. It is one student, one ladder, and a tutor with no patience to run out of.

Principles

Three commitments, each with a cost attached.

A principle that costs nothing is a slogan. Each of these has a consequence we actually live with.

Principle one

A doubt should not have to wait for tomorrow

The interval between confusion and explanation decides whether a gap closes or moves into next term. Every design decision that shortens that interval wins, including ones that make the product harder to build.

Consequence: no support queue, no scheduled slots, no daily window when the tutor is unavailable.
Principle two

Practice should aim at what is actually weak

The most common form of wasted study is confident revision of material already held. Practice has to be generated against a named gap, at a level above comfortable, or it is just time spent.

Consequence: generation instead of a question bank, and difficulty that moves inside a session.
Principle three

Progress you can see, not a score you receive

A number out of a hundred compresses a term and discards the useful part. A named list of concepts, some mint, some coral, is harder to produce and tells a student what to do tonight.

Consequence: a ladder that can go backwards, and a mastery bar that does not round up out of kindness.
What we refused to build

The clearest way to describe a product is by what it turned down.

Every item here was a real option with a real commercial argument behind it. These are the decisions that make NYGTLYF the shape it is.

Selling to coaching institutes

It is the obvious business model in this market and it changes who the product serves. An institute buyer wants oversight, comparison and enforcement. A student needs privacy, patience and the freedom to be wrong. Those two requirement sets pull in opposite directions, so we picked one.

A teacher facing dashboard

The moment a session is observable, students start performing rather than learning, and the signal the engine runs on degrades. There is no version of this feature that does not cost us the thing that makes the product work.

Streaks that punish

Aggressive streak mechanics reliably increase daily opens and reliably push students towards the easiest available material at 23:50. We kept the streak, removed the teeth, and accepted the lower engagement number.

Encouraging mastery scores

Turning a rung mint early makes the product feel better and makes it useless. The bar stays at a level that requires work at difficulty 3 and 4, across more than one day, on questions the student has not seen.

Claiming uniform subject depth

It would be straightforward to list twenty subjects on the homepage. Instead the coverage state is written out, including where it is thin, because a student planning a term around us deserves to know before they commit.

Publishing numbers we have not measured

No user counts, no percentage improvement claims, no testimonial wall. When we have figures that were genuinely measured, they will go up with the method attached.

Two of those six decisions cost us the largest available revenue channel in Indian education technology. We are aware of that, and we would make the same call again, because the product only works if the student trusts it enough to be honest inside it.

What is next

Depth first, and stated honestly rather than as a roadmap.

No dates attached, because dated roadmaps in a young product are a form of overclaiming. This is the order of work.

Depth before breadth

Now

Mathematics and science for Classes 8 to 12 get deeper before new subjects get added. A shallow ladder in a new subject is worse than no ladder, because it implies a rigour that is not there.

Organic chemistry mechanism generation

In progress

Physical chemistry generation is solid. Mechanism questions need a different generation approach and are the current gap in the chemistry ladder.

Diagram based questions in biology

In progress

Biology practice is currently weighted to definitions and process ordering. Labelling and interpretation questions are the missing half of that subject.

A complete English ladder

Planned

Grammar has a partial ladder. Comprehension and writing need a prerequisite model that is genuinely different from a mathematics one, and we are not going to fake it with a chapter list.

No team page, on purpose

Whether the explanations are any good is a question a team grid cannot answer. The live ladder demo, the worked examples on the learn pages and the free tier can.

No testimonial wall

A quote from a student we selected is not evidence. We would rather put the engine in front of you and let you judge it in an evening.

No claims we cannot show

Where we describe behaviour, there is a worked example on the corresponding learn page. Where coverage is thin, it is written on the practice page.

Judge it yourself

The only argument we trust is the one you make after an evening with it.

No demo call, no sales conversation, no institute code. Create a free account, run the diagnostic, ask a real doubt you are actually stuck on, and decide from there.

If it is not the right fit, we would rather tell you that in an email than sell you a term.
