Stage four - Climb and review

Progress you can point at, measured in concepts rather than percentages.

A test score compresses a term into one number and throws away the part that was useful. The ladder keeps it: which concepts are yours, which are slipping, which are blocked, and what tonight's fifteen minutes should go towards.

What gets tracked

Four measures, each chosen because it changes a decision.

If a number cannot tell you what to do differently tomorrow, it does not belong on a dashboard.

Concepts, not chapters

The unit of progress is a concept rung. "Chapter 4, 60% complete" tells you nothing useful. "Factorising is coral, quadratics is blocked" tells you what to do tonight.

Flagged concepts, ranked by cost

Weak concepts are ordered by how many rungs above them are blocked. The one at the top is the one holding back the most ground, which is rarely the one that feels most urgent.

Streaks that count showing up

A streak counts days you did real work, not rungs you cleared. Going backwards on a hard concept is exactly the day a streak should be protected, not broken.

Time recorded honestly

Only active time on questions and explanations counts. A tab left open for two hours is not two hours of study, and reporting it as such would make the number useless.

The dashboard

One screen that answers "what should I do tonight".

Not a wall of charts. Three subjects, their ladder positions, and the single highest cost gap across all of them.

Vectors, Physics

Resolving into components is coral at 59%. Four rungs above it are blocked, which makes it the single most expensive gap on the account. Newton's laws, friction, circular motion and work energy all wait behind it.

Student and parent visibility

A parent sees the outcome. Nobody sees the struggle.

This split is the whole reason a student will use the product honestly. If asking a basic question could be read later by a parent, students stop asking basic questions, and the engine loses the signal it runs on.

Visible to a linked parent account

Progress and effort, in full
  • Concepts mastered this week, this month and this term
  • Concepts currently flagged for review, and for how long
  • Active study time, by subject, by day
  • Study streak and days missed
  • Difficulty level reached in each subject
  • Diagnostic results and the ladder position they produced

Stays private to the student

By design, not by setting
  • The text of any doubt the student asked
  • The tutor explanations they received
  • How many times they asked for the same step again
  • Individual wrong answers and the working behind them
  • Which questions took them longest
  • Anything typed into a session, in full

There is no setting that turns this off, and no parent side request that reveals it.

A student always sees everything about their own account, including everything a linked parent account can see. There is no view of a student that is hidden from that student.

Full data handling detail

What counts as a day

  • Twelve minutes of active work on questions or explanations. Opening the app does not count.
  • A rung going backwards still counts. Discovering a gap is productive work, and penalising it would teach avoidance.
  • One rest day a week is built in. A streak survives a single missed day, because a rule that punishes one Sunday off gets abandoned entirely.
  • No streak notifications after 22:30. Nothing on this platform will nag a student into studying late.
Why streaks are deliberately gentle

A streak should measure a habit, not manufacture anxiety.

Aggressive streak mechanics are effective at driving daily opens and terrible at driving learning. They push students to do the minimum that keeps the number alive, usually at 23:50, usually on the easiest available material.

So the streak here has a low bar, a built in rest day, and no evening pressure. It exists to make consistency visible, and that is the whole job.

Concepts mastered is the number that matters. The streak is context for it.

See your own ladder

By the end of the first week, you will know exactly which gap is costing you the most.

Not a percentage, not a grade. A named concept, with a count of how many things above it are waiting on it. That single line is what makes revision time land where it changes a result.

Free tier stays free. One subject, a daily doubt limit, no card.
